was started very late, almost too late, it is still necessary to make a
point: Paris Hilton is a great person and an American icon despite the
pettiness that has surrounded her at the instigation of others. |

To: The Honorable Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
Paris Whitney Hilton is an American celebrity and socialite. She is an
heiress to a share of the Hilton Hotel fortune, as well as to the real estate
fortune of her father Richard Hilton. She provides hope for young people all
over the U.S. and the world. She provides beauty and excitement to all of our lives. Hilton is notable for her leading roles the FOX reality series The Simple
Life and in the remake of the Vincent Price horror classic "House of Wax". In
addition to her work as an actress, she has achieved some recognition as a
model, celebrity spokesperson, singer, and writer.
As most of America now knows, Ms. Hilton was just charged in a Los Angeles
court with DUI and sentenced to 45 days in Century Regional Detention Facility
in California beginning or before June 5, 2007. Paris Hilton was
properly released to home confinement by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's
Department, and then arbitrarily ordered back to jail by a Judge exercising a
prejudicial standard.
We, the American public who support Paris, are shocked, dismayed and appalled
by how Paris has been the person singled out to be used as an example that Drunk Driving is
wrong. We do not support drunk driving or DUI charges, and Paris should have been
sober, however she shouldn't be confined in jail, either, when the average
person would not be. This prejudice should not stand without
opposition. Please release Paris Hilton, in the proper time frame, which
would be the same as others in her area. The Sheriff acted properly in
ordering her to home confinement and the Judge and District Attorney in this
case may be abusing Paris Hilton for their own self promotion. Please release
Paris Hilton to home confinement to serve out her sentence. If this is not
within you power to order, please pardon Paris Hilton because of the prejudice
and abuse exercised by the courts and law enforcement in this case.
